There are confirmed cases in the Brazoria County area.  Please click on the CDC link above for a more detailed listing of the cases throughout the United States.  Some of the media reports are incorrect.  97% to 98% of people being tested nation wide for this virus ARE NOT POSITIVE.  Only 2% to 3% are found to be positive with the virus.

Here are a few things you can do to protect yourself and your family:

- Make sure you cover your mouth with a tissue or cloth if you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue/cloth in the trash after you use it.

-Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective in preventing the spread of germs.

- Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.  Germs spread that way also.

- Avoid close contact with sick people.

- Stay home from work or school if you are sick to keep from spreading any viruses.  If you are sick, try and quarantine yourself from others and get medical attention.

- Avoid shaking hands until this threat has past.
