SECURITY OFFICERS
If you reserve the Civic Center, San Jacinto Room, or American Legion Hall, and plan to allow ANY type of alcoholic beverage inside of the building during your function, the City requires, by ordinance, that two West Columbia police officers be present during your function. The cost is $30.00 per hour, per officer. There is a minimum four hour charge. It is important to remember that if alcohol is brought into the building before officers arrive, you are in violation of the ordinance, and therefore subject to a fine. Also, if alcohol is brought back into the building after officers leave, you will be subject to a fine. The City requires that the building be clean, and vacated by 1:00 AM. Plan ahead. End your function with plenty of time to clean up and avoid the risk of losing your deposit.
HOUSE CHECKS
As a courtesy to our citizens, the West Columbia Police Department offers a courtesy house or business check if you are leaving out of town, or feel like your residence or business needs a little extra attention from the police. If you are leaving town for an extended time, or you are having trouble with theft or vandalism, feel free to fill out our online request form , or come by the police department and request a courtesy house check. Extra patrols will then be conducted on your house or business for the requested time. All house checks will expire after 30 days if a return date is not specified. If you need to extend your house check, simply fill out and submit a new request.
